The ISD Build Challenge is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in the design, coordination and actual construction of a Net-Zero House on campus. The house will be tested and exhibited on our campus next summer and at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival at the Mall, Washington DC during the Summer of 2021.
The Build Team is comprised of 9 sub-teams:Architecture Structure Construction Management Water Photovoltaics & Electric HVAC & Energy Analysis App Development Lighting, Automation, and Home Appliances Marketing, Finance, and/or Sponsorship
We are seeking students who are passionate about disciplines such as: sustainability, architecture, engineering, and business. Prior experience in disciplines such as HVAC, photovoltaics, plumbing, energy analysis, architecture, structural design, sustainability, etc. is taken into consideration. The success of our team's work during the past 1.5 years has strongly relied on dedicated individuals who are passionate about their tasks and are willing to learn from other members of the team. The teams will meet twice a week for 1.5 hours each and will need to dedicate 5-6 hours/week outside of their meetings to help work towards the project deadlines.
