Construction Materials Faculty

Professor, Associate Department Head, and Director of the Center of Excellence for Airport Technology
Narbey Khachaturian Faculty Scholar

Dr. Lange’s research interests include behavior of concrete materials in concrete pavement applications, characterization of microstructure of porous materials, early age properties of concrete, and water transport in repair and masonry materials.

Assistant Professor

Dr. Mondal has research interests in various aspects of concrete microstructure, the use of nanotechnology to improve properties and performance of concrete and other cementitious materials, and the design of innovative and sustainable construction materials.

Associate Professor

Dr. Popovics has two primary research interests. The first is non-destructive evaluation. In particular, he is interested in the use of mechanical waves (ultrasound and vibration) to assess the condition of civil engineering structures and pavement. His second research interest is the mechanical properties of cement-based infrastructure materials. His research findings have been published in over thirty articles in refereed technical journals and thirty conference proceedings. He is affiliated with the Center for Advanced Cement-Based Materials (ACBM).

Professor

Dr. Struble's research interests involve various aspects of concrete composition, microstructure, and performance. She is currently directing research on the flow behavior of cement paste and on interactions between cement and dispersing admixtures, on early cement hydration reactions and set, on extrusion of functionally graded cement-based composites, on segregation of self-consolidating concrete, and on alkali-silica reaction in concrete.
