Jon Khachaturian is President/CEO of Versabar Inc.  He directs a group of six companies with more than 650 employees engaged in heavy lift engineering and field operations both on-shore and offshore. As the holder of more than 50 patents, Jon has been a leader in heavy lift technology in the Gulf of Mexico for more than 30 years.

Research Overview: 

Jon Khachaturian (BS 78) is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, elected in 2010.  His technical innovations have received a number of engineering awards, including two “Spotlight on New Technology” Awards from the Society of Petroleum Engineers; the “NOVA” award from the Construction Innovation Forum; “Woefel’s Best Engineering Award” from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers; the 2009 GEOCA “Special Achievement in Mechanical Engineering” award from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers; and the John N. Crisp Award for “Engineering Excellence” from the University of New Orleans.  He was named one of the “Top 25 News Makers of 2008” by Engineering News-Record.
