Assistant Professor Paramita Mondal earned her bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at Jadavpur University in India (2001); her master of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Connecticut (2004); and her Ph.D. in civil engineering from Northwestern University (2008). Her professional experience includes working as a design engineer for M.N. Dastur, a civil engineering firm in India.
A member of the Construction Materials group, Dr. Mondal will be teaching two courses in Construction Materials: CEE 300 Behavior of Materials and CEE 401 Concrete.
She belongs to the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Institute, the American Ceramic Society and the Transportation Research Board. She serves on two committees within these organizations: ACI 236, Materials Science and AFN 15T, Nanotechnology-Based Concrete Materials.
Dr. Mondal has research interests in various aspects of concrete microstructure, the use of nanotechnology to improve properties and performance of concrete and other cementitious materials, and the design of innovative and sustainable construction materials.
