Ford Fellowship Program
September 16, 2016
Ikenberry Commons, Multipurpose Room (2025C)
To enhance diversity in higher education, the Ford Foundation offers predoctoral, dissertation, and postdoctoral fellowships. Ford Fellowships are among the most celebrated of awards available to doctoral students in the United States. Students who demonstrate sustained personal engagement with underrepresented communities and who are members of the following groups are particularly encouraged to apply: Alaska Natives, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Native American Indians, Native Pacific Islanders, and Puerto Ricans.
The Graduate College’s Office of External Fellowships will hold an information session on the Ford Fellowship program, and it will feature Dr. Aixa Alfonso, the Ford Foundation’s Regional Liaison and Associate Professor of Biological Sciences at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Dr. Alfonso is also a former Ford recipient. Students considering applying for a fellowship are strongly encouraged to attend.
