The Economics Department is offering Proficiency Exams for Microeconomic Principles (ECON 102) and Macroeconomic Principles (ECON 103) throughout the semester (upcoming online and on-campus formats in October, November, and December).

Students may visit the Economics website to read more about the exams, formats offered, upcoming dates, and registration:


General Information:

On-Campus Online or Written formats have a set capacity~ we plan on offering these at least twice per semester (upcoming dates in October & December) ProctorU Online format has unlimited spots, flexible times within the three-day period, but is at the student’s expense (ProctorU costs)~ we plan on offering these monthly (upcoming dates in October, November, and December) Students may only take each exam once, and those passing will receive credit (students are notified of results within a 1-2 week period) If students received ECON 1—credit for AP or transfer courses, but have the micro or macro background, they are encouraged to take the proficiency exams (syllabi and general information on the exams are on the website)

Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) UIUC Student Chapter is hosting a tour of the MTD Operations Center, which is the heart of the MTD day-to-day operations. The Controllers use dispatching software and video feeds to monitor service and provide the safest and most responsive bus service possible. On behalf of New York University Abu Dhabi, we invite applications for our Global PhD Student Fellowship in Engineering. The Fellowship is a unique opportunity to pursue advanced studies across two exciting campuses and cities; as a collaboration between NYUAD and NYU New York, participating students complete coursework in New York and dissertation research in Abu Dhabi.

How to Apply
Candidates for the Fellowship apply for admission to the NYU Tandon School of Engineering through NYU Tandon’s standard online application process. Applicants are strongly advised to investigate NYUAD’s research areas and identify specific Abu Dhabi faculty as potential mentors in their applications. Applications for fall 2017 admission will open in early autumn 2016, with an application deadline of December 15, 2016.
There is no separate application for the Global PhD Student Fellowship; all interested PhD applicants will be considered. The Fellowship in Engineering requires candidates to hold a master’s degree before enrolling in the PhD program.

About the Fellowship
The Fellowship is an award for four years of full-time study, including:

a full scholarship at NYU Tandon, covering all tuition and fees a generous stipend international health insurance degree-related travel arrangements housing in graduate accommodation in Abu Dhabi a housing contribution while undertaking coursework at NYU New York

All Global PhD Student Fellowship recipients are employed as Graduate Research Assistants at NYU Abu Dhabi for the duration of the Fellowship, spending the first year in New York and all subsequent years in Abu Dhabi. The degree is awarded by New York University, a top-tier research institution.

The program is designed for exceptional students from around the world who want to engage in cutting-edge scholarship.
