Winter Session is Back!

Once again, the University of Illinois is asking for your assistance to help connect students with online winter courses and the opportunities that Winter Session brings. Your role is vital to provide a trusted voice to help students understand the benefits and flexibility of studying online while still enjoying winter break.

This winter, Illinois is offering 24 high-quality courses taught by Illinois faculty and delivered in a condensed, online, four-week format over the winter break. Winter Session begins December 19, 2016 and ends January 13, 2017. This is a great opportunity for students to take an active role in their education, enroll in a high demand course and work toward degree completion.

How you can help.

Encourage students to enroll in winter courses and review the Winter Session website, online.illinois.edu/winter. Display the Winter Session poster in your offices and in a prominent place for students to view. Hand out the Winter Session flyers to students whenever possible.

(Winter posters and flyers will be sent to your department within the next few weeks.)

Important information for students.

Winter Session 2016-2017 begins on December 19, 2016, and ends January 13, 2017. Priority registration begins for Winter 2016/2017 in conjunction with Spring 2017 on October 31, 2016. Students may enroll in one class during Winter Session.

Recruiting Students to Participate in Survey on Social Responsibility in Engineering

You are invited to participate in an online survey to gather research data for the undergraduate thesis project of Athena Lin, a senior in the College of Engineering. The purpose of this project is to investigate current instruction about social responsibility in undergraduate engineering programs at Illinois. Your insights are important for understanding how students perceive social responsibility within their engineering education.

We expect the survey to take about 20 minutes to complete. To take this survey, click on the following link: https://illinois.edu/sb/sec/878543. This survey will be active until October 31, 2016.

After you take the survey, you may volunteer for an OPTIONAL individual interview. The interview session will be audio recorded and will last thirty minutes. To volunteer for an interview, please indicate your interest by following the link at the end of the survey and providing the requested information. Athena will contact you to schedule a time for the interview.

New ILEE BS Dual Degree - Applications open

The Technology Entrepreneur Center is very excited to announce that the first application cycle for the Innovation, Leadership and Engineering Entrepreneurship (ILEE) BS dual degree within the College of Engineering will open Monday, October 17 and remain open until November 17. Please encourage students interested in pursuing this dual degree to visit the ILEE application website (http://tec.illinois.edu/academics/degree/dual-degree-application) for eligibility and application requirements.

15th Annual Student-Professional Round Table

Every year, ITE has hosted a round table bringing Transportation industry professionals and students together to talk about trends in the industry, how to find a job, what skills to acquire while at school, and much more... all over some great pizza! This year again, we're proud to host the event on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM in 1311 Newmark Civil Engineering Lab. Please see the attached flyer. The event is open to everyone interested in Transportation, and would be quite appropriate for Civil, MechSE, ISE and Urban Planning majors, among others.
