Student Outreach Volunteers Needed

Illinois Engineering is looking for student volunteers who enjoy introducing young people to science and engineering.

Help to facilitate a family STEM night activity (prosthetics, slime, mining chocolate chips, and more) at a Danville elementary school on Tuesday, February 12. We’ll leave from Engineering Hall at 3pm, participate in the STEM fair from 4:30-6:30pm, and stop for dinner on the way home. Transportation and dinner is complimentary.

We need 8-10 more volunteers for this event. Please sign up using the WYSE LEADer Spring sign up form (Sign up here).

Two additional options available through this sign up form that you might be interested in:

DREAAM House youth could use your leadership as the 4th-6th graders explore Lego Robotics on Mondays or Tuesdays (4-5pm). Chicago Pre-College Science and Engineering Program 7th graders with physics & algebra activities or 8th graders doing Scratch computer programming. These Saturday lessons will occur in Chicago on Mar 30, Apr 6, and Apr 13 (transportation provided, volunteer for 1 or more Saturdays).

Thanks for helping to develop and influence tomorrow’s engineers, programmers, scientists, mathematicians, and STEM educators! Contact Lara Hebert (lhebert2@illinois.edu) with any questions.
