Professor Youssef Hashash and Undergraduate Advisor Becky Stillwell have been chosen as recipients of the Engineering Council Award for Excellence in Advising. Award recipients are nominated by their students and represent the top 10 percent of engineering advisors across the college.

Engineering Council is a union of engineering societies and committees that serves as the students’ voice in the College of Engineering. The Council encourages academic, professional and personal growth by offering leadership opportunities and fostering interdisciplinary relationships within the College of Engineering.

“This is a wonderful and special honor as it comes from our students,” Hashash said. “Mentoring and engaging our students and seeing them develop professionally is not only our top priority, but a most fulfilling experience.”

Stillwell, who is receiving the award for the sixth time, also feels honored by the nomination and the recognition for the work she does on behalf of the students and the department.

“This award is special and makes me proud to a member of the CEE department,” she said.

The awards will be presented to Hashash and Stillwell at the College of Engineering Faculty Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 29, 2019. The ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. in the National Center for Supercomputing Applications auditorium.
