I hope you are doing well and staying safe. I wanted to reach out and introduce myself, my name is Samantha and I’m the North American associate manager of the James Dyson Foundation, the charitable arm of Dyson. Understanding this is an uncertain time, especially for students, I wanted to get in touch and see what the best way to connect with you and your engineering/design students was to discuss the James Dyson Award.


The Technology Entrepreneur Center at The Grainger College of Engineering has launched a new academic program: TE 498: Illinois Deep Tech Accelerator (Fall  2020 |4 credit hrs.). It is open to all students and the application deadline is August 10, 2020. Requesting you to please share the information with your students.


ECS Corporate Services is still trying to fill their summer and fall co-ops. I have attached a file with their greatest job needs.


The USGS Central Midwest Water Science Center is interested in recruiting students who will be in their first, second, third, or fourth year of undergraduate, or first year of graduate college during the Fall 2020 semester. This student will possess a high degree of motivation and will be majoring in a STEM related degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math). This student will have some coursework or experience using Microsoft Office with experience using Excel and Word and possibly some experience with Powerpoint. 


The students of CEE449 conducted a project throughout the spring semester, solving emerging problems in natural and engineered environmental systems including air, water, wastewater, solid and hazardous waste, and ecological systems. This year a group of students conducted a field trip in Ecuador, Puná Island that focused on Reverse Osmosis desalination and rural community drinking water quality.


The sudents of CEE449 will be hosting their design team presentation on May 5, 2020, from 12:00-1:30 p.m. CST via Zoom

We are pleased to announce that applications for the Verdell Frazier Young Award are now being accepted. The Verdell Frazier Young Award was established to assist womxn who have had an interruption in pursuing a college degree (undergraduate or graduate). The application is currently open and accepting rolling applications.

NCSA has a history of nurturing innovative concepts, and some of the best ideas have come from highly motivated, creative undergraduate students. The Students Pushing Innovation (SPIN) internship program was launched to provide University of Illinois undergraduates with the opportunity to participate in hands-on research and contribute to interdisciplinary projects covering focused research areas in Culture and Society, Earth and Environment, Bioinformatics and Health Sciences, Material and Manufacturing, Data and Computational Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, and Digital Agriculture.
