Professor James LaFave (BS 86, MS 87) has been selected to receive the 2023 Martin P. Korn Award from the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI).  The award goes to LaFave and his co-authors for their paper, “Seismic Performance of a Ductile Rod Exterior Connection System for Precast Concrete Industrial Buildings,” which was published in the PCI Journal earlier this year.

The Martin P. Korn Award annually recognizes the authors of the best design/research/state-of-the-art paper in the PCI Journal on precast concrete used in buildings and other structures.

LaFave’s co-authors include Illinois CEE alumnus Donghyuk Jung (MS 12, PhD 18), who is now an assistant professor at Korea University in Seoul, and former Illinois CEE adjunct faculty member Thomas Kang, who is a professor at Seoul National University (SNU). The other co-authors are former SNU graduate students Dong Joo Lee and Sanghee Kim.
