The Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors (AEESP) has awarded the 2020 Paul V. Roberts/AEESP Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award to postdoctoral researcher John Trimmer for his dissertation, Resource Recovery from Sanitation to Amplify Development: Navigating Global and Local Possibilities. AEESP gives the prestigious award annually to recognize a rigorous and innovative doctoral thesis that advances the science and practice of water quality engineering for either engineered or natural systems.
Trimmer earned a B.S. (2010) in civil and environmental engineering from Bucknell University, M.S. (2015) in environmental engineering from the University of South Florida and Ph.D. (2019) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, advised by associate professor Jeremy Guest. Beginning in September 2020, Trimmer will serve as the Research and Programs Manager for the Aquaya Institute, running their Nairobi office.
