Loreta and Silvio Corsetti Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is established in memory of Loreta and Silvio Corsetti the parents of Victor C. Corsetti. Silvio immigrated from Pacentro, Italy after World War I1 to Venezuela and became a carpenter. He came to the United States in 1951 and in 1952 brought Loreta and six of his seven children to Illinois. He spent his entire career at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Joliet, Illinois. He was mentored at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign by both Dr. William Gamble and Dr. William Hall. Dr Hall recommended that he stay for his master's degree which Corsetti said was instrumental in his successful career. He honors these two professors with this gift.
The scholarship is awarded and is to be renewable for students studying structural engineering. Donor's second preference is that the scholarships be given to Italian Nationals from the Pacentro, Italy region and/or Italian American students from the state of Illinois.
The award is given in two equal payments: one during the Fall semester and one during the Spring semester.
