Loreta and Silvio Corsetti Memorial Fellowship

This fellowship is established in memory of Loreta and Silvio Corsetti, the parents of Victor C. Corsetti. Silvio immigrated from Pacentro, Italy after World War II to Venezuela with his oldest son, Paul. Silvio came to the United States in 1951 and in 1952 brought Loreta and five of his seven children to Illinois.

Victor Corsetti earned his bachelor's and master's degree at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he was mentored by both Dr. William Gamble and Dr. William Hall. Dr. Hall recommended that he stay for his master's degree, which Corsetti said was instrumental in his successful career. He also honors these two professors with this gift.

This fellowship will be given to students born in Italy, with first priority to individuals born in the Abruzzo region in central Italy and only second to any other region in Italy. Students born outside of Italy, even if Italian citizens, do not qualify. The fellowship will be given to Ph.D. students only.
