Harry K. and Carol A. Windland Endowment Scholarship in Memory of David A. Windland

The Harry K. and Carol A. Windland Endowment Scholarship in Memory of David A. Windland was established in 2015, in memory of Mr. Windland’s son David. Mr. Windland is a 1961 graduate of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.  He was designated as Distinguished Military Graduate and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Ordnance Corps and served two years active duty. He had a 30 year career with Illinois Bell Company, which included the design and construction of network facilities and management of electromechanical and electronic switching systems. Mr. Windland earned a Master’s Degree in Management Science from Maryville University in St. Louis, his wife, Carol earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, a Bachelor of Science in Systems and Data Processing and a Master’s in Business Administration, all from Washington University in St. Louis. Her career included information systems management in the backing and telephone industries.

The scholarship is given to an undergraduate students who are enrolled in the construction management program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Scholarships and awarded to students who are graduates of high schools in the State of Illinois, excluding residents/high school graduates from the city of Chicago and Cook County. 

The award will be given in two equal payments: one during the Fall semester and one during the Spring semester.
