Application of rock mechanics to engineering problems; shear strength of rock masses; dynamic and static stability of rock slopes; deformability of rock masses; design of pressure tunnel linings and dam foundations; controlled blasting and blasting vibrations; tunnel support; machine tunneling; design and construction of large underground openings; field instrumentation.
