Faculty research webinar highlights additive manufacturing, new materials

In a virtual seminar titled, "Emerging smart materials: From optimized crack resistance to electro/magneto active properties" held on September 29, 2022, professor Oscar Lopez-Pamies discussed his recent work aimed at creating a new class of materials with the potential to enable new technologies. From designing the microstructure of materials so they have greater crack resistance, to adding liquid inclusions to solids to create materials with fascinating behaviors (like “cloaking”), Lopez-Pamies shared his cutting-edge research and the exciting applications for which these new classes of materials might be used.
