Golparvar-Fard joins editorial board of new journal

Professor Mani Golparvar-Fard has joined the editorial board of ASCE OPEN: Multidisciplinary Journal of Civil Engineering, a new publication launched by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). ASCE OPEN is ASCE's first gold open access journal, and will present an all-encompassing civil engineering perspective on the built and natural environment.  

Golparvar-Fard also serves on the editorial boards of several other journals, including the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering and the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management. He has served as the chair on several ASCE committees including Construction Research Council and Data Sensing and Analytics. 

Golparvar-Fard has been on the CEE at Illinois faculty since 2012, where his research focuses on computer vision and machine learning for monitoring construction and operation in the built environment. His foundational work at the interface of computer vision and construction has led to many patents and technology transfers, as well as the founding of Reconstruct Inc. – an early-stage venture-backed technology company that offers 3D reality mapping and visual project monitoring solutions to construction and inspection projects around the world.
