Three University of Illinois professors and a graduate student who traveled to Haiti to study the aftermath of the January12 earthquake will offer a seminar on Wednesday, April 7, from noon-1 p.m. in room 1518 of the Hydrosystems Laboratory, 301 N. Mathews Ave., Urbana.  All are welcome.

The seminar will be presented by Amr S. Elnashai, Professor and Head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE); Amanda Lewis, CEE graduate student; Robert M. Olshansky, Associate Head and Professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning; and CEE Assistant Professor Scott M. Olson.

The speakers will discuss construction practices and the performance of buildings, the role of ground behavior and failures on the performance of the natural and built environments, and the effects of the earthquake on the social and economic systems of Haiti.
