Associate Professor Scott Olson has been selected to receive a 2012 Walter L. Huber Civil Engineering Research Prize from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) "for pioneering research on liquefaction, particularly related to the shear strength and normalized shear strength of liquefied soils using field case history back-analysis, laboratory element testing, and centrifuge testing."
Olson joined the department faculty in August 2004. He teaches an undergraduate course in geotechnical engineering and a graduate course on in situ testing and field measurements.
The award will be presented during the ASCE Annual Conference in Montreal Oct. 18-20.
