PhD student receives ACI Presidents' Fellowship

PhD student Bayezid Baten has been awarded the ACI Presidents’ Fellowship from the American Concrete Institute Foundation.

CEE at Illinois PhD student Bayezid Baten has been awarded the ACI Presidents’ Fellowship from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Foundation. This competitive fellowship is awarded to students enrolled in a Master’s or Doctoral program in construction, design, education or materials. ACI Fellowship recipients receive an educational stipend, paid travel expenses and attendance fees to two ACI conventions, and assistance in finding an industry mentor. 

Baten completed his B.Sc. (2017) and M.Sc. (2019) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. He began his studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2021, where his research centers on developing low-cost and sustainable Ultra-High Performance Concrete. His work is supported by the Illinois Department of Transportation. 

Baten is advised by assistant professor Nishant Garg.
