CEE PhD students Yuming Zhang and Shayan Shayesteh received 2nd and 3rd place honors, respectively, at this year’s AACEI (Association for Advancement of Cost Engineering International) 3+1 Elevator Pitch Competition. Hosted by the AACEI Montreal Section and their industry partners, the competition gives graduate students in construction engineering and management programs the opportunity to present their research on an international stage.

To participate, students are allowed either one minute or three minutes to present the main points and outcomes of their research. Following each presentation, students field questions from a panel of industry and academia expert judges.

Zhang took 2nd place in the one-minute track and Shayesteh took 3rd place in the three-minute track. As top three finalist both CEE students were invited to present extended versions of their research at the AACEI monthly meeting following the competition.

Zhang and Shayesteh are advised by CEE assistant professor Houtan Jebelli.
