Tutumluer to present distinguished ASCE lecture
Erol Tutumluer has been selected by the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Geo-Institute to give the 2021 Carl L. Monismith Lecture. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering professor’s lecture date is to be determined.
Tutumluer plans to present on transportation geotechnics as it “provides key knowledge to building sustainable pavement and railroad track infrastructure,” he said.
The Geo-Institute Board of Governors selected Tutumluer based on his contributions to the industry, particularly his efforts researching the implications of geotechnical and pavement foundation issues in pavement design and performance. The committee also chose Tutumluer in recognition of his knowledge of geomechnical and pavement systems as well as advanced- and mechanistic-based modeling.
