CEE alum Carlos Campos (MS 96, PhD 99) has been named Chairman of Blue Foot Membranes, a company that is redefining water treatment through supplying robust reliable membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology that transforms wastewater into reusable clean water.

Campos, who received the CEE Alumni Association Young CEE Award in 2006, shared that it is a "great honor to take this new role" on his LinkedIn.

While at the University of Illinois, Campos' PhD dissertation was Modeling Powdered Activated Carbon Performance in Membrane Filtration Systems under the direction of Professor Emeritus Vernon Snoeyink and Ivan Racheff Professor of Environmental Engineering, Professor Emeritus Benito Marinas.

Campos joined Blue Foot Membrane's Board in July 2024 as an independent director, and has decades of international experience in the water sector.

“Blue Foot technology is a key enabler for sustainable water management, helping industries and utilities to treat their effluents in a more efficient manner. I am excited to step into this role to support the team in strengthening the impact the team is already making,” said Campos of his new role.
