Four graduate students from CEE Assistant Professor Eleftheria Kontou's Research Group won the second place in the 2026 Gies SCM Conference Supply Chain Management (SCM) Case Competition titled "Beyond Dollars: Social responsibility in designing a US Freight Network". Student teams were asked to design real-world routing strategies to reduce carbon footprint and increase supply chain resilience, utilizing real data from a corporate affiliate, Echo Global Logistics, a technology-enabled third-party logistics provider. CEE students Wencheng Bao, Hyunhwa Kim, Sijia Li, and Yen-Chu Wu provided insights on network strategies that can lead to economic, resilience, and environmental benefits for the US freight supply chains.
