Assistant professor Vishal Verma has been invited to join the editorial board of the Aerosol Science and Technology (AS&T) Journal, the official journal of the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR). AS&T publishes the results of theoretical and experimental investigations into aerosol phenomena and closely related material as well as high-quality reports on fundamental and applied topics.

Verma joined the CEE at Illinois faculty in 2015, where his research and teaching centers on assessing the health impacts of ambient PM2.5 (airborne dust particles smaller than 2.5 micrometers). Specifically, the main focus of his research is to identify the components of ambient PM2.5 and their emission sources, which are responsible for inducing adverse health effects in humans.

Verma has earned numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including the National Science Foundation CAREER award (2019), Honorable Mention for the James J. Morgan Early Career Award from Environmental Science and Technology journal, UIUC Center for Advanced Study Fellow (2021-22) and invited chair for special symposiums/sessions on Air Pollution and Health at AAAR and American Geophysical Union conferences. Verma is past chair of the Health Related Aerosol working group at AAAR.
