RESILIENT ILLINOIS Conference
Overview
Strengthening Illinois Resilience through Integrated Infrastructure, Water, and Public Health Systems
APRIL 14-15, 2026
Hosted by the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, this conference will bring together leaders from government, industry, academia, public health, emergency management, and community organizations to identify Illinois’ most urgent extreme-weather risks and the complex challenges they pose.
By examining how extreme weather triggers infrastructure failures, disrupts system operations, accelerates environmental degradation, and intensifies public health vulnerabilities, participants will co-develop a shared understanding of the interconnected threats facing the state. The conference will establish priorities for action, showcase emerging scientific and engineering innovations, elevate community perspectives, and guide the next generation of resilience strategies to protect Illinois’ people, infrastructure, and natural resources.
Featured sessions will include discussions with leading resilience experts and contributions from researchers at the Center for Secure Water (C4SW).
