Burj Khalifa construction completed

Alumnus William F. Baker (MS 1980) designed the structural system that enabled construction of the world’s tallest building — the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Baker's design continued the innovative structural engineering tradition of alumnus Fazlur Khan (MS 1953, PhD 1955), who was known for developing the tube structural systems that allowed for the building of modern skyscrapers.
