CEE graduate students Ishfaq Aziz and Yuxiang Zhao have won the O.H. Ammann Research Fellowship in Structural Engineering from the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of ASCE. The fellowship is awarded annually to top graduate students studying structural engineering across the country.

The O.H. Ammann Research Fellowship is named after renowned Swiss-born civil engineer Othmar Hermann Ammann and was established to encourage the creation of new knowledge in structural engineering and design. It provides each student $5000 to fund the research projects they submitted as part of their application for the fellowship.

Recently, Aziz and Zhao both also received the ASCE SEI Student Scholarship, an award given by the SEI Futures Fund in collaboration with the ASCE Foundation. Awardees are selected based on their career goals, research, and professional organization participation.

Aziz and Zhao are advised by Assistant Research Professor Mohamad Alipour.
