Civil engineering undergraduate program ranked No. 3

The civil engineering undergraduate program has been ranked number three by U.S. News and World Report.

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign civil engineering undergraduate program has been ranked number three in the category, Best Undergraduate Civil Engineering Programs in the 2022 America's Best Colleges edition of U.S. News and World Report (published September 13, 2021). Illinois ranked sixth in the category, Best Undergraduate Environmental/Environmental Health Engineering Programs.

For more than 20 years, the department has hovered at or near the top spot in the civil engineering category. Last year was an exception, when the civil engineering program was ranked number six. This year’s rankings show a return to normal.

Overall, The Grainger College of Engineering undergraduate engineering program ranked sixth in the category, Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs (tied with Carnegie Mellon and University of Michigan). Ten engineering programs at Illinois, including civil and environmental, ranked in the top ten.
